Difference between Natural & Carbonized Bamboo Flooring?
Bamboo flooring is available in two colours - carbonised and natural.
The colour is created at the boiling process. The natural bamboo colour
is a creamy blonde colour that will lift the brightness of a room.
The second colour is created by boiling the bamboo longer, this 'caramelises'
the starches in the bamboo creating a smokey coffee coloured hue that is
much darker than the Natural bamboo colour. In laminated flooring
this carbonised bamboo losses 30% its hardness from the process however is
still harder than most hardwoods. While in Bamboo Refined FibreStrand woven bamboo the carbonisation
creates a bamboo product that is 6% harder than the Natural coloured product.
